Protyre

The Challenge:

Protyre was searching for a top-quality, cost-efficient winter storage facility to protect the company’s tire inventory – all while aesthetically complementing other buildings on the property.

The customer had previously turned to traditional steel tire storage structures; however, Protyre needed a more sustainable, cost-efficient solution. A fabric storage structure offered the customer ultimate protection from severe weather and increased sustainability with optimized natural lighting.  Whereas, traditional wooden or steel storage buildings often need artificial light fixtures, increasing energy costs significantly.

The Solution:

Compared to traditional storage structures, Calhoun’s customizable GB-series fabric storage building offered Protyre the design and functionality required to meet the business’ needs, within budget. The facility was built on a two-foot, 10-inch-thick knee wall, in order to comfortably anchor the eight-foot metal legs into a concrete curb. This set-up successfully secured the side tarp to a concrete wall with plastic termination strips, to utilize for enclosed tire storage.

The fabric structure’s design flexibility allowed the customer to select a specific barn-style framework and color, to seamlessly blend in with Protyre’s other buildings on-site. The sloped roof configuration provided the additional benefit of allowing snow to slide off, reducing snow load in the winter.
