Ports and Waterways Facilities

FABRIC BUILDINGS FOR PORTS AND WATERWAYS

Storage structures at ports and waterways are specialized buildings that serve as transportation hubs for ships to load and unload cargo which means the interior needs to be expansive and dry. Calhoun Super Structures provides durable inland port buildings for the ports and waterways industry.

Calhoun fabric structures are ideal for ports and waterways because they’re durable and corrosion-resistant, and they offer numerous benefits that suit the industry. With free span interiors, you get plenty of storage space and maneuverability. The engineering behind our structures ensure you have a reliable, long-lasting port facility. Whatever size is necessary for your operations, Calhoun works with you to create a structure that meets your needs so you can keep your operations running smoothly.

CORROSION-RESISTANT STRUCTURES

One of the biggest challenges with a waterfront structure is corrosion. Most metals will rust when exposed to moisture over time. Rust and corrosion are detrimental to a structure’s appearance and structural integrity. Since port storage buildings are consistently exposed to moisture, they’re highly susceptible to rust. Calhoun’s structures use high-density polyethylene (HDPE) fabric covers to withstand harsh weather conditions and are treated with ultraviolet stabilizers. All pieces of our steel are hot dip galvanized inside and out.

Corrosion Resistant

The steel in our storage structures are hot-dipped galvanized for long-lasting durability and to resist corrosion. Our galvanized steel meets industry standards to provide optimal longevity and reduce maintenance needs. Our corrosion-resistant frames are essential for port storage buildings, helping your facility keep its strength longer, even in the face of constant moisture exposure.

Withstands Weather

Our HDPE fabric is engineered for durability even in harsh weather conditions and is protected from wakening or breaking down due to UV rays with an ultraviolet stabilizer coating.

Clear Span Interior

All our fabric structures are designed with a clear-span interior. Our structures are built without interior poles, columns or pillars to give you maximum storage space, and easily store and maneuver large cargo.

Natural Lighting

Unlike metal roofing, our fabric structures allow natural light into your storage space. Natural light is more cost-efficient, even and constant, allowing you to minimize energy expenditure. This natural visibility helps increase safety and prevent rodents and pests from finding hiding spaces in dark corners.

Low Operational Costs

Compared to traditional building materials, our fabric covers and steel frames boast low maintenance and operational costs. With the natural light, you save on artificial lighting costs.

Fully Customizable

While we offer standard designs, we understand that port storage buildings sometimes require specialization to accommodate unusual demands. Whether you need a specific building length or a unique layout, we’ll work with you to engineer the most effective solution.
